The DM1424 High Speed Centrifuge and the Case for Verifying Rotor Fit Before Purchase

DM1424 High Speed Centrifuge

The DM1424 is a benchtop high-speed centrifuge built around capillary tube processing. Its listed rotor capacity and certification set make documentation review part of the procurement checklist.

A benchtop centrifuge at roughly 10.5 kg, the DM1424 runs at 200–12000 rpm in 10 rpm increments, with a stated maximum RCF of 13680 ×g. Run time spans 30 seconds to 99 minutes or continuous operation. Acceleration and braking are both listed at 30 seconds.

The rotor capacity is 24 capillary tubes. That specification defines the device’s practical niche, and any laboratory expecting standard microcentrifuge tubes should confirm the rotor fit before ordering.

The drive is a brushless DC motor drawing 160 W, and the unit accepts single-phase input at 200–240 V or 100–120 V, 50 Hz or 60 Hz, at 5 A. Controls include a speed/RCF switch, pulse operation, a short-time run function, and an audible alert.

Safety features listed are door interlock, overspeed and over-temperature detection, automatic internal diagnosis, and automatic rotor identification. The unit measures 280 × 364 × 274 mm.

The manufacturer lists compliance with CE, UKCA, FCC, ICES, and RoHS requirements, plus CB and cTUVus certifications. Buyers should verify the certification documents against their own market’s requirements, since the input states compliance rather than providing certificate numbers.

Notably absent from the specification table are fields for Cat.No., rotor type, temperature setting range, noise level, and applications. Those blanks matter: a capillary-tube centrifuge with no temperature control may not suit temperature-sensitive separations.

The main procurement question is compatibility — matching the rotor and capillary tube format to the intended protocol, rather than assuming the speed ceiling alone qualifies the instrument.

Why it matters:
Blank specification fields and an unstated rotor type are the gaps a buyer must close before purchase. Request full documentation on rotor compatibility, temperature behavior, and certificate details.
