D3024 High Speed Centrifuge
Benchtop centrifuges are specified less by top speed than by the tube formats a lab actually runs. The D3024 lists five rotor configurations spanning 0.2 mL to 5 mL.
The stated speed range is 15000 rpm with a maximum RCF of 21380 ×g, in increments of 10 rpm and 10 ×g. Speed accuracy is given as ±20 rpm. Those figures matter most where protocols depend on reproducible separation conditions across runs.
Rotor capacity covers 1.5/2 mL ×24, 0.2/0.5 mL ×36, PCR-8 strips ×4, 5 mL ×12 and 5 mL ×18. The aluminum alloy rotors are listed as autoclavable at 121°C; three-layer sealing is cited for containment. Buyers should confirm which of the five rotors ships as standard.
Run time spans 30 seconds to 99 minutes, or continuous. Acceleration and braking are both listed at 25 seconds. A brushless DC motor removes brush replacement from the maintenance schedule.
Safety features include dual door interlock, over-speed detection and automatic internal diagnosis. Both 200–240V and 100–120V single-phase supplies are supported at 50/60 Hz, which simplifies deployment across regions. Noise is rated at ≤64 dB.
The unit measures 364 × 280 × 266 mm and weighs 12 kg. Compliance is stated for CE, UKCA, FCC, ICES and RoHS, with CB and cTUVus certification also claimed. Verification of certificates is a reasonable step before purchase.
Notably, the temperature setting range and applications fields are blank in the specification table. That absence matters: labs needing refrigeration or documented application fit must ask the supplier directly rather than assume.
The rotor list, not the speed ceiling, is the real procurement variable here — containment, autoclave cycles and adapter availability determine whether one benchtop unit can replace several.
Why it matters:
Confirm which rotors and adapters are included, and obtain the missing temperature and application specifications in writing, before committing.
