China’s ventilator makers consolidate ICU capabilities into a single turbine-driven platform

Crius V6 ICU Ventilator – Advanced Mechanical Ventilation with HFNC & Turbine Technology

As Chinese medical device OEMs push up the value chain, the Crius V6 ventilator reveals how modular, software-defined hardware is collapsing the distinction between emergency, transport, and long-term respiratory care.

The Crius V6 is a turbine-driven ICU ventilator that eliminates reliance on external compressors or central gas supplies. This design choice reduces infrastructural overhead in intensive care units and makes the device viable for transport use, where compressed gas access is often unreliable.

It supports invasive, non-invasive, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy from a single platform, with a tidal volume range spanning 20–2000 mL. Clinicians can select from modes including VCV, PCV, PRVC, SIMV, CPAP/PSV, APRV, and Dual PAP, adapting to acute respiratory failure or long-term weaning without switching equipment.

The integrated high-flow oxygen circuit delivers up to 100 L/min, covering a cohort of cases that previously demanded separate HFNC devices. Real-time lung mechanics monitoring—compliance, RSBI, P0.1, expiratory hold—gives intensivists objective triggers for ventilation strategy adjustments.

From a procurement perspective, the Crius V6 represents a centralization strategy: one device covering ICU, CCU, PACU, operating theatre, and in-hospital transport. This simplifies training, maintenance, and spare-part logistics for hospital systems under cost pressure.

Chinese ventilator manufacturing has matured past component assembly; the Crius V6’s fully electronic control and turbine technology indicate a domestic supply chain capable of precision pneumatics and embedded software integration. The tier-1 hospital segment, long dominated by Western and European brands, is now seeing credible local alternatives.

What remains less visible is the service ecosystem. Field responsiveness, clinician training, and disposables supply will determine whether this platform displaces incumbents or remains a backup option in regional hospitals.

Why it matters:
For procurement teams evaluating ventilator fleets, the Crius V6 compresses multiple device categories into one hospital asset. The real test is not specs—competing products match them—but whether the manufacturer can deliver reliable aftermarket support across China’s tier-2 and tier-3 hospital networks.
