Pisces
A bedside monitor is only as defined as the parameter set installed in it. The Northern Meditec Pisces ships as a base configuration with a long optional list, so the quotation matters as much as the datasheet.
The Pisces is a professional patient monitor built around a 12.1-inch color TFT LCD touchscreen in a wide, flat-panel format. The stated base configuration combines ECG, SpO2, NIBP, two temperature channels, pulse rate and respiration, with a lithium-ion battery for portable use.
The monitor supports eight waveform displays and up to 12-lead ECG analysis, alongside pacemaker detection, ST and arrhythmia analysis, and OxyCRGs. Calculation packages cover hemodynamic, dose, oxygenation and ventilation functions. Trend review extends to 480 hours, with 48-hour full-disclosure waveform review per patient.
Optional items include Masimo or Nellcor SpO2, EtCO2, anesthetic gas, cardiac output, two invasive blood pressure channels, BIS, NMT and a thermal recorder. Mounting options and wired or wireless central monitoring with HL7 support to a hospital information system are also listed.
That breadth is the main procurement risk. Two units sold under the same model name can differ substantially in clinical capability, and the delivered configuration determines which departments they can serve.
Buyers should confirm availability, compatible options, documentation, minimum order quantity, lead time and shipping before committing. Where a project requires HL7 integration or specific SpO2 technology, those details need written confirmation rather than assumption.
Why it matters:
Parameter configuration, not the chassis, drives both price and clinical fit. Specify the exact option set in writing before ordering.
