According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, at 21:57 Beijing time on December 17, 2024, after 9 hours of extravehicular activities, the Shenzhou 19 crew astronauts Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze worked closely together, and with the support of the space station’s robotic arm and ground scientific researchers, completed the installation of the space station’s space debris protection device, the inspection and disposal of extravehicular equipment and facilities, and other tasks. Extravehicular astronauts Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong have safely returned to the Wentian laboratory module. The extravehicular activities were a complete success, once again breaking the record for the length of extravehicular activities of Chinese astronauts. Astronaut Cai Xuzhe walked in space again after two years, and Song Lingdong became my country’s first post-90s astronaut to conduct extravehicular activities.
The space station modules, manned spacecraft, cargo spacecraft, relay satellites and the Long March series of launch vehicles used to launch these spacecraft used in my country’s space station project were all developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. Relevant units of the Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation also participated in other subsystems of the project.According to the plan, during the Shenzhou 19 manned flight mission, personnel and application payloads will be extravehicular activities carried out, and a large number of scientific experiments and technical tests will be carried out.
